CYCLING CENTRE

The Cycling Centre offers specific winter training. Rather than just putting in miles and hoping for the best, we have created quality workouts that, with the watchful eye of a certified coach, will get you to the next level – whether that’s jumping from Olympic to Ironman triathlons, completing a century, racing in pro-am road races, competing in a World Cup mountain bike race, or being the first in your group to the top of a hill.

That’s a $50 savings and less than $11 per training session

Each phase of this program builds on the one before it, which is different than a spinning class where every session works you anaerobically; and a class in November isn’t all that different from one in March. Periodized planning will build on your strengths and improve weaknesses, helping to prevent injuries through proper technique, bike fit, and workouts that target different training systems. If you get tired on a long ride you need to improve your aerobic development; getting dropped on a hill may need improved strength endurance; getting beat to the finish line you’ll need improved speed and lactic threshold tolerance. Just putting in the miles isn’t going to maximize your potential.

This cycling program will work different elements such as strength, speed, endurance, agility as they relate to cycling outdoors and your performance goals. Want to move up from Cat 3 to 2 on the road, train for a spring Ironman, compete in a 24 hour mountain bike race, lose weight, keep up with your week-end cycling group, all of these goals can be accomplished with proper winter training.

A benefit to riding indoors is it allows for a variety of abilities and experienced athletes to ride together, providing a fun and social atmosphere. You won’t have to go 6 months without seeing your cycling friends!

Not everyone is the same, and the coach will monitor progress and tailor each session to help you accomplish your goals, pushing you when you need to work harder, and knowing when you need to rest. ISM also has a variety of other specialists to help with your training and recovery, including massage, physio, nutrition, psychology, chiropractic care – it’s like a one-stop-shop for athletes.
